Happy Earth Day: A Look Back at LEED Certified Projects

 

JMA would like to celebrate Earth Day by highlighting recent projects where we collaborated with the project team and jurisdictions to achieve LEED certification. 

Sustainability in Self Storage

Shoreline Self Storage- Shoreline, WA
LEED Certified

JMA designed the 106,000 SF self storage facility situated north of Seattle in Shoreline. The five-story structure was built into a steep hillside and involved significant site preparation work. Designed as one of few LEED Certified self storage buildings in Washington State, the building is 3 stories of type 2B construction over 2 levels of type 1A construction.

Ballinger Self Storage- Shoreline, WA
LEED Certified

Ballinger Self Storage is a LEED Certified four-story plus a daylit basement facility. Gross floor area is 107,000 SF with 100,000 SF dedicated to semi-heated rental units, a 600 SF leasing office and the remaining area utilized by support spaces. Ballinger Self Storage was opened in the 4th quarter of 2019.


Sustainability in Mission Critical

Fortune Data Center (Now Infomart) – Hillsboro, Oregon
LEED 2009 Core and Shell – Gold – August 2017

JMA led this adaptive reuse of an existing chip manufacturing building. The project converted a 240,000 SF, two story office/manufacturing facility into a colocation data center with 57,000 SF of computer floor. The project utilized the existing 2nd level ventilation fans to pull air through the computer room.

South Hill / Centeris Data Center – Puyallup, Washington
LEED Gold Certification

JMA completed this major remodel of an existing three-story 300,000 SF microchip processing building into a new data center situated on a 100-acre site. The remodel included a new entry, lobby, new office and controls area, and a 55,000 SF foot raised access floor area. The building was awarded the NAIOP “Outstanding Project of the Year” award for Exterior Commercial Projects in Washington.


Sustainability in Residential

Alexan Central Park in Redmond, WA
BuiltGreen 3 Star

At 85 feet in height, the project is designed as the tallest wood frame structure in Redmond and is constructed as a 5-over-3 building. In addition to the planned 193 units, unique uses of public and private open space create a cascading garden element for visitors and tenants to enjoy at multiple levels.

Ascend Lofts- Portland, OR
LEED Gold

JMA designed this congregate housing in Portland. Ascend will offer 5 stories with 96 sleeping unit residential spaces, 16 shared residential kitchens, as well as four live/work units. Ascend provides residents with resort style amenities that include a courtyard, roof deck, lounge, gym and dog wash. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification.

Zeal Lofts-Portland, OR

JMA designed Zeal Lofts, a congregate housing project in Portland. Zeal Lofts offers 6 stories with 210 sleeping units, 34 shared residential kitchens, and 4,500 SF of commercial space. Zeal Lofts provides residents with resort style amenities that including two courtyards, a rooftop deck, lounge, gym and dog wash. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification.
