Designing Self Storage Facilities with Women’s Safety in Mind

You’ll find bright colors and plenty of natural light in any JMA-designed self storage facility as each one is created with women’s safety in mind.

“It’s important for us to use bright and cheerful colors in both the office and the facility to better reflect light and allow women to feel safe in navigating the facility,” said JMA Principal Robin Murphy. “This is just one example of how our firm is committed to serving the end user.”

84 percent of all self storage customers are women, according to a survey conducted by Noah’s Ark Development. The same survey collected the customer’s reasons for leasing and 54 percent cited moving and 32 percent were cleaning out a basement or garage which is important to note because 91 percent of home purchasing decisions are made by women, according to the Harvard Business Review.
